WHAT WILL YOU FIND?

WHAT WILL YOU FIND HERE?

Stories!

Stories about a seeming lifetime of meditation. (It’s only 40-plus years, but it feels like a lifetime!)  A blog as being akin to a small book packed with short stories. You can keep it at your bedside and read them in any order you like, gravitating to the titles you find most appealing. Something like Allan Lightman’s novella. Einstein’s Dreams, a fictional account of dreams the great physicist had while contemplating his theory of relativity.

Some day I hope to publish a short book featuring the best of these essays—or epistles, as I call them. In the meantime, select a category and dive in.

A WRITER'S JOURNEY

Karl Thunemann

I started writing at age eight (a sappy short story about patriotism) and continued the following year with the first of several very short juvenile baseball “novels.” I worked for more than a quarter century for community newspapers, including 16 years as a columnist and editorial page editor at the now-defunct Daily Journal-American in Bellevue, WA, where I sharpened my skill at writing short commentary.

I'm still a “player,” but my interests have moved from the diamond toward more spiritual inner fields, including dream study, the practice of Yang-style tai chi and consulting the I Ching, or Chinese Book of Changes. As a meditator, my interests have ranged from Begin Again, the breath-counting practice, to the micro-cosmic orbit to loving-kindness, my most recent passion.
